Renewed Mind Reviews exists to encourage media literacy with all forms of media by providing parent guides, reviews, and resources. We strive to encourage Christians, anime fans, parents, homeschoolers, readers, and everyone in between to think about what they are watching.

We believe in the words found in Romans 12:2, which states:

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (ESV)

What We Believe

God

We believe in one God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the creator of all things and is holy, loving, and just.

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.” Isaiah 40:28 ESV

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 ESV

“But the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.” Isaiah 5:16 ESV

Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, willingly died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead, defeating sin and death. Through Him alone, we are reconciled to God.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 ESV

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 ESV

“Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'” John 8:34-36 ESV

The Holy Spirit

We believe that The Holy Spirit dwells within believers. He is the Helper promised by Christ who teaches and reminds us of God’s truth.

“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,” Romans 8:16 ESV

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26 ESV

Salvation 

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned by good works, but received as a gift because of Christ’s sacrifice.

Good works flow out of a life changed by Christ, but salvation is not determined by our works; it’s determined by Christ’s finished work on the cross.

“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9-10 ESV

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, without error, given to reveal who God is, what He has done, and how believers are called to live. Scripture is the foundation for truth, discernment, and spiritual growth.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

Marriage

We believe that God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy is intended for marriage.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24 ESV

The Christian Walk

We believe that following Christ affects every part of life, including how we think, what we consume, and how we engage with culture and media. As Christians, we are called to pursue wisdom and discernment in a world full of competing messages.

What Makes Us Different from Other Review Sites

There are plenty of review sites out there, but none are quite like Renewed Mind Reviews.

Some sites that cover anime aren’t faith-based. Others might be user-submitted, which makes their accuracy uncertain. Some might not give all the relevant details necessary for adults and parents to make a wise decision about what media to consume. Still, some faith-based guides even fear-monger and push personal convictions onto their readers for grey area issues. We don’t want to do that.

We strive to write detailed, faith-based media guides to help you decide what media to consume. We will offer our perspective, evidence-based conclusions, and give you the freedom to make your own decisions using godly wisdom and discernment.

Our Focus

Renewed Mind Reviews’ main focus is on writing Christian anime reviews and Christian manga reviews. Our culture has seen a massive surge in the popularity of anime and manga in the past few years and we want to provide resources to parents, Christians, and anime watchers because navigating anime safely is extremely hard. There are some great Christian anime review sites out there but few focus on writing anime parent guides that don’t fear monger and provide more than a paragraph of content guidance for a particular anime. That’s where we come in.

However, although Christian anime and manga reviews are our main focus, we don’t just write about those. Sometimes, we will write about other forms of media—books, films, movies, children’s media, or even gaming. Our Editor-in-Chief and Founder, Myne, loves a good story and often writes about what she wants to write about—even if it’s not anime.

We want to give you the information and tools needed for you to make a decision on what shows to watch or show your children. We will offer our perspective and opinion but ultimately, what you watch is between you and The Lord. We believe that the Bible gives us guidance about sin and righteousness and we also understand that some people’s consciences are more sensitive than others. We never want you to take our opinion as gospel truth—we are humans and we make mistakes because we don’t speak for God. Test everything we say against Scripture, pray, and use wisdom and discernment when selecting the media you choose to consume.

Our Statement on AI

We believe that AI is a tool that can both help and hinder. It can encourage human creativity or take away from it.

We find some AI tools helpful–for example, running through a draft to help ensure there are no grammatical errors and to get a second perspective on the readability, clarity etc., figuring out how to word an idea we are struggling with, creating images that we have rights to since we don’t have an artist on staff, brainstorming, etc.—but we never want them to replace humans. We are made in God’s image and God made us creative. We think AI can be helpful to assist, not replace.

Our Editor-in-Chief and Founder, Myne Ehrenwood, oversees all content creation, writing, research, editing, and strategy for Renewed Mind Reviews. From anime parent guides to book reviews, she ensures that every article aligns with our mission of thoughtful, Scripture-based discernment. Although we’ve added an additional contributing writer and editor since our first launch in winter 2025, Myne still does 95% of the work for Renewed Mind Reviews solo—which is why online tools are extremely helpful for her. However, we never want tools to replace the writer which is why we strive to use it as a resource.

(And, side note—Myne is obsessed with the em dash and uses it all the time; the em dash—and semicolons—is an awesome tool that humans, not just AI, use).

Additionally, for the safety and privacy of our staff members, we do not show our real faces. We often use AI-generated images (created with ChatGPT) to help protect our privacy. In the future, we hope to replace these with commissioned or original artwork, but for now, this is what we have available.
